Marilyn Monroe to be back on big screen?

Marilyn Monroe looks set to make a screen comeback from beyond the grave after the rights to her image were taken up by a branding expert.

Jamie Salter plans to use high-tech imaging technology to revive the tragic actress on the big screen after purchasing her "name and likeness" in a multi-million pound deal last week, reports dailystar.co.uk.

Salter bought the rights from Anna Strasberg, whose late husband, actor Lee Strasberg, was Monroe's acting teacher and beneficiary of her will. The exact sum he paid has not been disclosed.

Salter, who also manages Bob Marley's image through his firm, is convinced he can make the Some Like It Hot star more popular than ever.

"Why does Lindsay Lohan aspire to be Marilyn Monroe? Why does Lady Gaga aspire to be Marilyn Monroe? The reason is that she is an iconic personality, she has great style, she is just simply elegant. She stands for glamour, and sex appeal, and remember this, she proves that size doesn't matter. She is voluptuous, a real woman," said Salter.

"The younger generation will fall in love with her the way we fell in love," he added.

Marilyn Monroe's house sold for $4 million

Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe's Los Angeles home, where she was found dead from drug overdose, has sold for close to $4 million.

The Spanish colonial house in Brentwood where Monroe died in 1962, sold for $255,000 dollars above the $3,595,000 asking price.

The one-storey four-bedroom, three-bathroom house features polished concrete and terra cotta tile floors, original wood beamed ceilings and period hardware and tiles, reported Los Angeles Times.

Built in 1929, the "hacienda" and pool sit on 23,000 square feet of tree-filled grounds, according to the website of David Offer, with Prudential California Realty.

Offer's website described the house as, "The crown jewel and largest property of all the Helenas (one of Brentwood's most romantic and coveted locations)."

The actress and model, who died at age 36, had bought the house for $75,000. According to public records, the house's most recent seller had purchased it for $925,000 in 1996.

Marilyn Monroe 'pot footage' to go on sale

A footage showing Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe smoking a joint 50 years ago is about to go up for sale.

The never-seen-before video shows the late actress smoking cannabis while relaxing at a friend's home in New Jersey.

The silent film was shot by a filmmaker friend of Monroe who confirmed the beauty was smoking pot.

"I got the marijuana. It was mine. It was just passed around. It was not a party. It was just a get-together. You know, come over and hang out," the friend said, on condition of annonymity.

The blonde beauty can reportedly be seen taking a puff on the cigarette, sniffing her armpit and giggling in the video.

It (the tape) currently belongs to New York collector Keya Morgan who bought it for $275,000.

"This is the late 1950s so she is already very famous, but this is a personal side of her we've never seen before. People have never seen her in such a relaxed pose," said Morgan.

Morgan - who is currently making a documentary on the actress - plans to put the clip up for sale on auction website eBay later this week.

No takers for crypt above Marilyn Monroe

A second auction of the marble mausoleum crypt above Hollywood star Marilyn Monroe has failed to attract any bids.

A previous $4.6 million (22.8 million pounds) bid for the space fell through in August when Elsie Poncher first attempted to sell off her late husband's crypt.

The new eBay.com auction required a 1-5 percent refundable deposit to be able to bid.

Organiser Eric Gazin, of AuctionCause.com, said several people were pre-approved to bid on the crypt at the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles, but no-one did during the 10-day auction,.

He says the family is now weighing their options.

Other celebrities laid to rest at the cemetery include Farrah Fawcett, Rodney Dangerfield, Dean Martin, Jack Lemmon and Eva Gabor.
