Dennis Hopper dies aged 74

Hollywood actor Dennis Hopper has died at the age of 74 following a battle with prostate cancer.

Known for such cult classics as Easy Rider, Apocalypse Now and Blue Velvet, Hopper embodied the image of the Hollywood icon.

Hopper died on Saturday morning surrounded by friends and family at his home in Venice, California.

He was last seen in public in March when he was honoured with a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.

"Dennis Hopper died this morning at 8:15 am from complications of metastasised prostate cancer. He died at home in Venice surrounded by family and friends," manager Sam Maydew said in a statement.

Hopper directed the 1969 counter-culture road movie Easy Rider, which he co-wrote with and starred alongside Peter Fonda. The pair were nominated for a best screenplay Academy Award.

"Dennis introduced me to the world of Pop Art and 'lost' films. We rode the highways of America and changed the way movies were made in Hollywood. I was blessed by his passion and friendship," Fonda told the TMZ website following Hopper's death.

Following a promising start to his career, with a role in James Dean's Rebel Without a Cause, Hopper developed a reputation as a hell-raiser with a penchant for drink and drugs.

Following his success with Easy Rider, and the disastrous The Last Movie, his on-set clashes with directors and fellow actors saw him effectively blacklisted by Hollywood.

It took nearly 10 years for Hopper to win back starring roles, with his critically acclaimed role in David Lynch's Blue Velvet marking a turning point in his career, although his personal life remained turbulent.

Wed five times, his final marriage, to Victoria Duffy, turned into an acrimonious split in 2010 when she accused his family of trying to cut her out of his life.

In April a judge ruled that Duffy, who shared a young daughter with Hopper, could remain at the marital home.

It was during the court hearings that it was revealed Hopper was terminally ill with prostate cancer, following his diagnosis last year.

Britney Spears cross 5 Million Followers on Twitter

Britney Spears has become the first person to break the 5 million follower’s wall on Twitter, less than a week after passing Ashton Kutcher to become the social networking site's most popular account user.

The star celebrated becoming No. 1 earlier this week by taking fan questions, revealing that her favorite of her own songs is "Toxic," her desert island necessities are her "boots, water and my CD collection," and she'd love to duet with British singer Robbie Williams.

As of Saturday afternoon, Britney had 5,015,346 followers, with Ashton trailing at 4,982,734. Notably, Ashton does his own Tweeting, while Britney's account is a mix of the star's posts and ones from her team and management.

Among her pop world competitors, Brit has nearly 800,000 followers more than Lady Gaga, who reached a landmark of her own this year by notching over a billion YouTube views of her music videos - a record.

Meanwhile, rocker John Mayer, once a prolific Tweeter, has cooled off on the site, Tweeting just once so far during the month of May.

He noticeably cut back on Tweets earlier this year, following a headline-garnering interview in Playboy.

Former child star Gary Coleman dies

Gary Coleman, the adorable, pint-sized child star of the smash 1970s TV sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes" who spent the rest of his life struggling on Hollywood's D-list, died Friday after suffering a brain hemorrhage. He was 42.

Coleman was taken off life support and died with family and friends at his side, Utah Valley Regional Medical Center spokeswoman Janet Frank said.

He suffered the brain hemorrhage Wednesday at his Santaquin home, 55 miles south of Salt Lake City. Frank said Coleman was hospitalized because of an accident at the home, but she had no further details.

Coleman's family, in a statement read by his brother-in-law Shawn Price, said information would be released shortly about his death.

Best remembered for "Diff'rent Strokes" character Arnold Jackson and his "Whatchu talkin' 'bout?" catchphrase, Coleman chafed at his permanent association with the show but also tried to capitalize on it through reality shows and other TV appearances.

Lindsay Lohan Scram Ankle Bracelet

It looks like Lindsay Lohan is prepping her court-ordered SCRAM bracelet for the red carpet.

The 'Mean Girls' actress was spotted in Santa Monica, CA on May 27, 2010 with an orange juice in more flared jeans to discretely hide her SCRAM ankle bracelet. It looks like Lindsay is trying to hydrate only with non-alcoholic beverages.

The embattled starlet tweeted her desire to pimp out her new ankle accessory with designer logos, just days after receiving it (and taking it out on the town).

"Can CHANEL please help me out by getting me some stickers to put on my scram bracelet so that I can at least wear a chic dress?! maybe!?," Lohan tweeted Thursday night.

But would Lohan's bedazzling or otherwise defacing the monitor be considered tampering with the device? And could it get her into trouble with the court?

Sherlyn Chopra goes nude

Wearing a two piece bikini and smooching co-stars onscreen can take a back seat for posing nude is going to be the next bold thing to do in Bollywood!

It may not be the ‘IT’ thing to do in Hollywood for even their A grade stars don’t mind doing the strip tease for magazine covers or films. However, setting the trend in India is none other than Sherlyn Chopra who was last seen in Yash Raj’s film ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’.

Sherlyn is very popular on the web and has been voted as the ‘most downloaded’ celeb a couple of times owing to her sexy body and oomph. The actress now seems to retain her numerous position on the web too and thus has posted the new bold pic.

Guess Hugh Hefner has already taken notice and has thus made an offer to Sherlyn to pose for his famous ‘Playboy’ cover. Surprisingly we couldn’t believe it when we saw a younger Sherlyn...that is Sherlyn before she became the bold babe of Bollywood. (Watch the above inset pic to believe us!)

We wonder who’s going to follow suit!
