Amitabh Bachchan to Play Colorful Character in 'Boodha'

Amitabh Bachchan is no stranger to changing looks for movies. He took on a very young appearance for his role in Paa that won several awards. And now Big B is set to dye his beard and hair for his next project, Puri Jagannath's Boodha.

And the star is not adopting just any look; he's gearing up to dye his hair and beard in what has been describes as a 'flamboyant' color! We can't wait to see the result! Will Big B go orange, or perhaps red? Only time will tell.

The film will start shooting in February and no other details have been revealed. The only thing we know is that Big B's character is an old man who thinks he's still young and wants to keep up that appearance.

Director Puri Jagannath told Hindustan Times, "That's right. Bachchan sir is going totally psychedelic for his part in Boodha. You see, he plays a man who is 60 but believes he's still 25."

"So he moves around dressed and made up like today's youngster. And if anyone calls him a boodha he is livid. He will be dyeing his beard and wig," he added.

We're sure this character in denial is nothing like Amitabh in real life! The handsome Bollywood veteran sports his natural hair color with style. Don't you agree?

Court asks police to probe allegation against Amitabh Bachchan

A local court today asked the police to probe into a indict leveled by a village head against Amitabh Bachchan and five others over delay in setting up a college named after the megastar's daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai.

Additional chief judicial Magistrate (Fast Track) Shiv Chand directed the Mohamadpur Khala police to look into the complaint filed by Daulatpur village head Raj Kumari, and submit a report on June 10.

On behalf of Raj Kumari, her son Avnindra Singh had last week moved the court for filing a case against Bachchan and five others, alleging that the actor had "cheated" people by announcing setting up of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Mahavidyala
Degree College in the village, whereas no work has started
even after the declaration made two years back.

Bachchan had purchased 16 bighas of land in Daulatpur village in Fatehpur tehsil of the district in two phases – in 2006 and 2007 -- and had announced setting up of the college.

A organization laying ceremony and a public meeting was also held there in 2008 in the presence of the Bachchan family, SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and then general secretary Amar Singh.

According to the complaint, the works for the college as per the announcements had to be carried out by Nishtha foundation of then SP MP Jaya Prada. "Whenever we tried to contact Devendra Rai of the Nishtha foundation he has threatened us," the complainant said.

Amitabh Bachchan gets Lifetime Achievement Award

Amitabh Bachchan, who freshly bagged the Filmfare award for his act in the film Paa, has extra one more spike to his cap. He was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 4th Asian Awards ceremony recently.

The well-known actor is delighted. “It just got over ! The pride and passion and honor of a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 4th Asian Awards ceremony here at the presentation center in Hong Kong,” he wrote on his blog.

“To be honest, I had never likely it to be the way it was. The association, the etiquette, the control and the effectiveness all in place and all done with great self-confidence and opulence. There is nothing quite as satisfying as a system that works. And to come across a dictum on the city of my present habitat that proclaims ‘Hong Kong - the city that works !’, is no off the cuff floozy remark. Tonight it confirmed that it actually lives up to its reputation,” he continued.

Amitabh also thanked Hong Kong and the Asian Film Awards for the respect and honor bestowed on him. He wrote that he would appreciate and memorize it fondly.

While organising a special screening of his movie Paa for Modi, Amitabh had said "There are lots of good things in Gujarat which should be promoted. I am ready to give my voice and face for the promotion of Gujarat tourism." Amitabh Bachchan plays 13-year-old Auro : PAA

A series of merchandise aimed at children is being planned after the release of Paa in which Amitabh Bachchan plays 13-year-old Auro, suffering from the premature ageing disease progeria.

Also, on Children's Day this Saturday, Amitabh as Auro will appear on television with a very special message for children. The initiative has been taken by AB Corp Ltd, who is producing the film, to connect Amitabh's character with children across the world through an Auro blitzkrieg. The fans will have Big B merchandise including dolls to play with.

"We're most definitely targeting Paa at children and parents alike. Mr. Bachchan's Auro is a special child suffering from an extremely rare age-hastening disease. Auro could've easily become lonely, isolated or abandoned," director R. Balakrishnan said.

"Paa shows how special 'special kids' can be. It has a message on parenting rather than any disease. When your child is born with a special impairment you need to make him feel special, not unwanted or isolated," he added.

There are now plans to do special shows of Paa to collect funds for the Progeria Research Foundation.

"We really had no concrete plans to tie up with the Progeria foundation. Though our protagonist suffers from the disease the film is not about progeria. It's about how special children can fill your life with special brightness.

"Not for a minute does my protagonist's special condition qualify his relationship with his parents. That's why we avoided pitching Paa as a progeria project. However we'd be more than happy if our film proves helpful to children who suffer from this rarest-of-rare diseases," said Balakrishnan.

"We're still to work out details since we hadn't really planned any Progeria events. We're definitely holding a charity screening of Paa of which the proceeds will be given to the Progeria foundation in the US," said the director.
