Is ‘Toonpur Ka Superrhero’ Slated Against ‘Tees Maar Khan’?

They may not sound like likely contenders with Ajay Devgan’s cartoon characters on one side and Katrina Kaif gyrating to Sheila Ki Jawaani on the other. But if word on the street is to be believed, then it may be more than just coincidence that the animated film Toonpur Ka Superrhero will clash with Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan at the box-office on 24th December.

Trade gossip has it that Eros, which has co-produced ‘Toonpur Ka Superrhero’ with Kumar Mangat, has intentionally and only recently decided to get its film in direct opposition to Farah Khan’s ‘Tees Maar Khan’, starring Akshay Kumar. The trade-wallahs opine that all’s not well between Eros’ Kishore Lulla and Akshay Kumar because the latter prevailed upon the former to withdraw the court case against Vipul Shah at the time of release (in November) of Shah’s Action Replayy which also starred Akshay. They add that it was because of Akshay that Lulla lost an opportunity to get a court order in his favour in the fight between himself and Vipul Shah in the matter of their London Dreams. But Sunil Lulla of Eros laughs off these stories and reminds, “We had announced ‘Toonpur Ka Superrhero’ as a Christmas release right when its first trailer was released some months back.” He asks, “So, where’s the question of only now deciding to bring it opposite Akshay’s ‘Tees Maar Khan’?”
